BSA, a nationally recognized architecture, engineering, interior design, and planning firm, is expanding its footprint with the launch of a new Houston studio. The addition of this studio represents a strategic investment in one of the most dynamic healthcare and research markets in the United States.

The Houston studio will build on BSA’s deepening client relationships in the region and strengthen the firm’s ability to deliver innovative environments that support healing, learning, and discovery. With Houston’s robust health care, learning, and research sectors, the studio is positioned to expand partnerships and contribute to community-focused outcomes.

“As we formalize our presence in Houston, we are energized by the region’s role in shaping the future of healthcare design,” said Tim Spence, Chief Executive Officer of BSA. “Houston’s health systems are leaders in clinical excellence and innovation. Our new studio will enable us to work even more closely with clients here, advancing environments that enhance patient experiences and support care teams.”

BSA has already established a strong working relationship with Houston Methodist on major regional projects, demonstrating the firm’s commitment to thoughtful, future-ready design. Current collaborations include:

  • Houston Methodist Cinco Ranch Comprehensive Care Center, a new 66,000-square-foot outpatient facility designed to integrate primary care, specialty services, advanced imaging, and physical therapy in a digitally forward environment. This project emphasizes functional flow and adaptability to emerging clinical technologies, aligning with Houston Methodist’s innovation initiatives.
  • Houston Methodist West Hospital Expansion and Renovation, where BSA is part of the design team delivering expanded emergency, observation, surgical, and support spaces. This multi-phase effort enhances critical care services and improves patient and staff workflows.

“These ongoing Houston Methodist projects reflect the trust clients place in our interdisciplinary design approach,” said Andrew Blocha, Design Principal in the Houston Studio. “Our work with Houston Methodist exemplifies how integrated planning and design can elevate care delivery and prepare facilities for future medical and technological advancements. It’s an exciting foundation for our new studio and an approach that will continue serving clients across all of the market sectors we specialize in and future collaborations across the region.”

The Houston studio will combine local leadership with BSA’s national expertise in architecture, engineering, interior design, and planning. This integrated capability supports complex project needs across sectors, including major health systems, university campuses, and research and development facilities.

BSA’s commitment to intelligent, human-centered design has been recognized nationally, including ranking #10 on Modern Healthcare’s Construction & Design Survey of the top healthcare architecture firms and #9 on Building Design + Construction’s Giants 400 list of the top university architecture firms.

The Houston studio becomes BSA’s eighth location, joining Austin, Charlotte, Denver, Indianapolis, Raleigh, St. Louis, and Tampa. Together, these studios form a connected network of expertise with a singular mission: creating inspired solutions that improve lives.
