Delbert Day Cancer Institute: A Cutting-Edge Cancer Care Facility

The Delbert Day Cancer Institute is a 37,000-square-foot comprehensive cancer care facility, seamlessly integrating architecture, interior design, and engineering to provide state-of-the-art technology and patient-centered care. Connected to the main hospital and adjacent medical office building, this institute is an example of custom building design that enhances patient comfort and clinical efficiency.

Innovative Healthcare Architecture & Interior Design

BSA’s healthcare architects, engineers, and designers created a dynamic curved glass exterior, offering a glimpse into the advanced cancer treatment services within. This medical building design for the Delbert Day Cancer Institute incorporates spaces for:

  • Radiation therapies
  • PET/CT
  • Nuclear medicine
  • Infusion therapy
  • Medical oncology
  • Supporting lab
  • Pharmacy ancillary services

Additionally, the first floor features retail space, a health café, a community center, and a healing garden. Together, these spaces promote wellness beyond traditional care. BSA’s expertise in healthcare interior design ensures a best-in-class patient experience, balancing functionality and comfort. Infusion services and the medical oncology clinic overlook a green roof.

Finally, the “Beacon of Hope” light installation on the facility’s exterior allows patients to activate a personalized light show upon making major treatment milestones. The light tailors to each individual journey, celebrating and encouraging their progress. This beacon is similar to the bell in the lobby of many cancer centers, often rung throughout treatment milestones.

By combining top architecture, engineering, and interior design, the Delbert Day Cancer Institute is a model of integrated healthcare solutions. BSA’s expertise prioritized innovative patient care, hospital efficiency, and sustainable hospital design.
