Gaston College Invests in Health Science Education with New Simulation Center

Gaston College is setting a new standard in healthcare education through a transformative Health Science Education and Simulation Center. This new facility, designed to meet the region’s growing healthcare demands, will expand training opportunities for both new students and current professionals. It will also serve as a regional hub for advanced, hands-on healthcare education.

As an extension of the David Belk Cannon Health Education Institute on the Dallas campus, the center will strategically address a projected shortage of over 700 healthcare workers in the region. The building will also play a critical role in needed workforce development.

The new center will offer comprehensive programming, including industry certifications, continuing education, and apprenticeships across four core health science disciplines. A state-of-the-art simulation center will mirror real-world healthcare environments, providing learners with immersive, practical experience. Whether pursuing certificates, diplomas, or associate degrees, students will gain the tools to enter the workforce confidently. Equally, existing healthcare professionals can advance their careers and build new credentials.

This initiative is being developed in close partnership with CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Atrium Health, Novant Health, local K-12 schools, and neighboring community colleges to expand access to healthcare education and career pathways across the region.

BSA is proud to lead the design, programming, and advanced planning for the Health Science Education and Simulation Center. Morris-Berg Architects is serving as the Architect of Record. Together, this collaborative team is supporting Gaston College’s long-term vision to build a resilient, skilled healthcare workforce for the future.
