Healing

Katie Dieckhaus, BSA Architecture Principal, has a deep understanding of how design impacts patient care, staff efficiency, and healing environments.

Having worked on both sides of the designer–client relationship, she offers an invaluable perspective on operational challenges, budget realities, and the daily workflows that make healthcare facilities truly functional.

To understand her impact today, it helps to go back to the beginning. From a young age, Katie knew exactly what she wanted to do: become an Architect. After achieving that dream, she found herself continually drawn to healthcare projects. This became the specialty that would define her career.

Watch as Katie shares her journey and how she contributes to BSA’s mission today.

Katie is no stranger to seeing design challenges up close and personal.

She is a strong believer that great healthcare design is about people, not just the physical space. One rural hospital project in Missouri proved exactly that. Watch along as Katie describes how BSA redesigned this emergency department.

Katie reflects on how healthcare is evolving at rapid speed with new technologies, shifting patient expectations, and changing regulations. Designing for this complexity calls for strategic partnership, innovation, and collaboration.

At BSA, Katie and her team work alongside clients to uncover their true goals. Maybe that goal is expanding service lines, improving operational efficiency, or planning for adaptability decades into the future… whatever it may be, BSA utilizes on-staff operational planners with deep clinical insight to create future-ready spaces.
